Description

Experience an unforgettable desert adventure from Marrakech, sleeping under the stars at a Berber campsite in the dunes. Along the way, visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the Valley of the Roses, and Tinghir. Explore traditional Berber villages around the Todra Gorge, and embark on a camel trek through the towering Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in Morocco. Day 1: Marrakech to Tinghir Your 3-day shared desert tour begins early in the morning as you depart Marrakech and head towards Ait Benhaddou via the Tizi Ntichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Make several stops along the way, including a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a location featured in many Hollywood films. Continue to Ouarzazate and explore Kasbah Taourirte before enjoying lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the Valley of the Roses to reach your hotel in Tinghir, where you will have dinner and spend the night. Day 2: Tinghir to Merzouga After breakfast at your hotel, drive along the Road of 1001 Kasbahs to the Oasis of Tinghir. From there, take a scenic route along the river to the Todra Canyons. Spend some time at leisure marveling at the massive cliffs before having lunch at a local café (at your own expense). In the early afternoon, continue to Erfoud, known for its date market and as the starting point for ancient trading caravans crossing the Sahara to Timbuktu. Drive through the rocky desert landscape to reach the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Meet your camel caravan and ride through the mesmerizing dunes as the sun sets, arriving at your Sahara Desert camp just before nightfall. After taking in the stunning surroundings, enjoy a Moroccan dinner served under the stars by a campfire. Late in the evening, experience traditional Berber music with your hosts playing drums. Day 3: Merzouga to Marrakech Rise early for breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road, where you’ll meet your driver for the journey back to Marrakech. Enjoy lunch en route as you pass through the Valley of the Roses, then continue through the High Atlas Mountains, arriving in Marrakech around 8 PM, where your desert tour concludes.
